Yukon Horse Packing Adventures is a family-run outfit near Whitehorse offering one of the most complete equestrian programs in Canada's North. In summer: day rides from one to eight hours, including picnic, salmon-bake and steak-dinner formats, plus genuine pack trips from an overnight up to eight days, heading for Grizzly Mountain, the Dawson Trail, the Tombstone range or an old gold mine on the Stewart River. Winter keeps the adventure going with rides through frost-covered forest and a hot drink on a ridge above Fox Lake, sleigh rides behind their draft-horse team, dog sledding, snowshoeing and ice fishing. The themes that come up again and again in reviews: complete beginners — including very young riders and whole families — feeling at ease within minutes, horses described as steady and full of character, and guides and owners praised as welcoming and generous with what they know.
